With the vision of competing with global brands in the rapidly growing market, Vision Electronics continues focusing on innovation, local manufacturing, quality assurance, and nationwide customer service to gain trust of the customers on locally-produced products.
To achieve goal, it has evolved significantly in terms of product diversification, technological advancement, and market expansion over the years. As a matter of fact, Vision becomes one of the leading electronics and home appliance brands in Bangladesh.
Executive Director of RFL Electronics Limited Engr. Md Nur Alam shared this in a written interview with The Financial Express.
From a limited product portfolio since its inception, he said they have expanded into multiple electronics and home appliance categories including commercial air conditioning solutions like Vision VRF AIM Series.
Regarding the journey of the company, he said their journey was inspired by the growing demand for reliable and energy-efficient electronics products in the local market. They strongly believed that Bangladesh has the potential to build a strong local manufacturing ecosystem capable of competing with global brands. With that vision in mind, the company focused on innovation, local manufacturing, quality assurance, and nationwide customer service.
"Today, Vision offers a diversified product portfolio including air conditioners, refrigerators, Water purifiers, Ovens, televisions, kitchen appliances, and other consumer electronics products through an extensive nationwide distribution network," he said.
Sharing about challenges or barriers that the company had faced at the initial stage, he said, one of the biggest challenges was changing customer perception regarding locally manufactured electronics products. At that time, international brands dominated consumer trust.
He said the Bangladeshi consumers today are much more informed and balanced in their expectations. Earlier, durability was the primary concern, but now customers want both reliability and modern features. Customers are more aware, more value-conscious, and they expect performance, savings, and reliability in one package. They are looking for products that last long but also offer smart functionality and energy savings.
"We see a clear shift toward value-driven decisions -- where durability, efficiency, and innovation must coexist rather than compete," he said.
They addressed this challenge through continuous investment in product quality, advanced manufacturing facilities, technology integration, and strong after-sales service, he said.
"Our marketing activity focused on building long-term customer trust rather than short-term business gains," Mr. Alam said.
Another challenge was developing a nationwide distribution and service network. Through strategic expansion and operational efficiency, they successfully established strong service coverage across the country, which played a vital role in our growth, according to him.
"What sets Vision apart is our commitment beyond the sale. We focus on delivering a complete ownership journey -- from purchase to installation to long-term service support. With our strong distribution and service network, customers know they can rely on us anytime. We are not just selling ACs; we are building lasting customer relationships," he said.
He also informed that they differentiate themselves by integrating modern technologies such as inverter systems, AI-controlled smart features, and energy-efficient solutions into our products. At the same time, the strong local manufacturing and assembly capabilities allow them to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
In addition, their nationwide after-sales service network and customer-centric approach have significantly strengthened customer confidence and brand loyalty, he said.
The executive said they are continuously upgrading our manufacturing and assembly facilities with modern technologies and automation processes. Their focus on innovation and energy efficiency has enabled them to introduce smart and advanced products aligned with global standards. Alongside technological growth, they have also expanded their nationwide market reach through a strong dealer, distributor, and service network across the country.
Regarding the company's growth, product range, market share and annual turnover, he said, their product portfolio includes air conditioners, refrigerators, ovens, water purifiers, televisions, kitchen appliances, and various home electronics products catering to different customer segments. Particularly in the HVAC segment, their VRF AC experiencing strong growth due to rising urbanization, infrastructural development, and increasing consumer demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions.
As a local manufacturer, he said, they are continuously strengthening their market position through technology-driven products, competitive pricing, and strong after-sales service support and their overall business growth trend remains highly positive and sustainable.
About the company's future expansion plan, Mr Alam said, the future expansion strategy focuses on strengthening local manufacturing capabilities, technological innovation, and intensifying the company's footprint in both residential and commercial electronics segments.
Currently, they have particularly been focusing on advanced HVAC solutions with our VRF AC systems to support the country's rapidly growing commercial and infrastructure sectors.
"In addition, we plan to invest further in smart technologies, energy-efficient solutions, automation, and dedicated research and development. This commitment to our R&D and strategic marketing activity ensures sustainable long-term growth and global competitiveness, effectively positioning Vision as a leader in both the consumer home and the professional industrial landscape," he said.
About potentials of the sector, he said, Bangladesh's electrical and electronics sector has tremendous growth potential. Rapid urbanization, rising disposable income, infrastructural development, and changing consumer lifestyles are driving strong market demand.
At the same time, he said, government initiatives encouraging local manufacturing and industrialization are creating new opportunities for the sector.
"We believe the future of this industry is very promising, especially in categories such as air conditioners, refrigerators, ovens smart home appliances, inverter technologies, and energy-efficient products," he added.
Responding to the question of policy constraints towards the growth of this sector, he said despite strong growth opportunities, the sector still faces several challenges. Dependency on imported raw materials and components remains one of the major challenges, especially considering global supply chain disruptions and currency fluctuations.
In addition, high duties on certain raw materials, rising energy costs, and technological dependency increase manufacturing costs. To accelerate sector growth, long-term industrial policies, investment-friendly initiatives, skill development programs, and support for local component manufacturing will be crucial, he said.
About the competition with the global brands here in terms of product quality and prices, he said, local manufacturers are becoming increasingly competitive by adopting modern technologies and rigorous quality control systems.
"If we look at Vision, one of our major advantages is our deep understanding of local consumer needs and market dynamics, which allows us to tailor both our marketing strategies and product features specifically for this region," he said.
He informed that local manufacturing also provides a unique advantage in cost optimisation, allowing them to offer highly competitive pricing without compromising on premium quality. Now, many Bangladeshi products especially within the Vision portfolio feature international-standard designs and world-class energy efficiency that can effectively compete with, and often outperform, any foreign brand in the local market.
In respect to the observations and suggestions for the flourishment of this sector, he said, for the electrical and electronics sector to reach its full potential, the focus must now shift toward industrial maturity and self-reliance. At Vision, they believe the path to sustainable growth lies in the continued empowerment of local manufacturing and the aggressive adoption of home-grown research and development. By reducing dependency on imported finished goods and prioritizing technology transfer, the industry can stabilize its position against global market volatility.
