Vituperative comments by BJP leaders
Saturday, 3 May 2014
Narendra Modi, one of the high echelons of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and prime aspirant for premiership following the 2014 Lok Sabha election in India, uttered arrogant and haughty comments on Bangladesh in his election campaign. Indian election is being conducted phase by phase. This time, BJP, one of the radical Hindu parties, is in the driving seat. Besides, other BJP leaders hurled harsh comments on Bangladesh which may harm bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh and might fuel communal disorder. Subramanian Swamy, one of the leaders of BJP, earlier said that Bangladesh should provide land from Chittagong to Sylhet, for illegal Bangladeshi people in India. According to the BJP, thousands of Bangladeshi people have taken shelter illegally in India and have been working as vote bank of Paschimbango.
It is understood that BJP is disseminating such vituperative comments to bag votes and wants to assume the state power. By doing so, BJP is getting good result. However, BJP's comments could jeopardise peace and stability in boarder areas of both the countries and make the situation volatile. The BJP high command should refrain from giving such speeches disrupting communal harmony.
