VLCC starts operations in Bangladesh

VLCC, known for its scientific weight loss solutions and its therapeutic approach to beauty treatments across the globe, started its operations in Bangladesh to help gain people physical fitness by reducing their bodies overweight. "We are very happy to be here in Bangladesh to address the obesity-related diseases such as coronary artery, hypertension and others that mainly originated from changing food habits and modern life style due to increasing income of the urban people in Bangladesh," Sandeep Ahuja, Managing Director (MD) of VLCC said while giving an exclusive interview with the FE Monday. "The mission of VLCC is to fight against obesity for slimming, beauty and fitness services. We are looking to deal with the growing obesity in Bangladesh because of economic prosperity in urban areas here (Bangladesh) that leads to obesity," he said. He said around 14 million urban people in Bangladesh are now overweighted (obesity), and the success rate by VLCC is excellent across the globe. "VLCC helps reduce about 90 thousand kilogrammes of weight of its clients per month in different countries," he said. Asked about the initial response of VLCC's Gulshan centre in Dhaka, he said, "We are getting overwhelming responses from the people to get our services in Bangladesh." With regard to VLCC's charges here in Dhaka, he said, "The charges will be logical since the matter is related with the health issues. Initially the primary consultancy will be without cost". "It depends on body composition, nature of skin types and several other factors of individuals that depend on their medical statues," he said. He said those who will book first, will get some inaugural benefits. We will monitor valued clients thrice a week that will help solve obesity-related problems. "But we will not be expensive as the matter relates with health issues. We will monitor our valued clients thrice a week with necessary therapies to reduce their extra body weights and caring their bodies' skin," said Sandeep Ahuja. "We have a plan to establish a training centre in Bangladesh to make the people skilled so that they could deal with the increasing number of obesity cases here," he said. "We have a plan to invest about US$15 million in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the next 12 to 18 months. And out of this amount, 40 per cent will be invested in Bangladesh," said the MD of VLCC. He has said the services which the VLCC are going to offer in Bangladesh include sliming beauty and fitness centre, hair and skin treatment. "VLCC produces over 100 skin and body care products. We will start marketing of skin, hair and body care products in Bangladesh soon," he said. Sandeep Ahuja said the present number of professionals at Gulshan centre are now about 40, and most of them are Bangladeshis. He said that VLCC has a plan to establish another two centres at Dhandmondi and Uttara in near future. "The number of skilled professionals will be between 100-120, once we start the operations of our Dhanmondi and Uttara centres in near future," he said. "VLCC, the first Indian company in the wellness domain, has three health care related businesses such as slimming, beauty and fitness services, education and training institutes, and manufacturing and retailing of personal care products," he said. It has 237 outlets in 102 cities across eight countries including India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It has been serving over 10 million customers since its inception in India. VLCC has about 10,000 staffs of 32 nationals, and 90 per cent of them are professionals including doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, cosmetologists and physiotherapist, and others are skilled in different related fields.
