Volunteers clean up garbage from Dhanmondi Lake
Monday, 21 September 2020
A group of young people has cleaned up garbage from Dhanmondi Lake in the city to make the water body free from waste.
They also conducted an awareness campaign about the dangers of waste disposal in the lake.
Around 100 young people wearing yellow shirts took part in the recent 'Aqua Cleansing' initiative to make the lake clean for the future generation, said a press release on Sunday.
Volunteer For Bangladesh (VBD) Dhaka District organized the campaign to encourage the people who live and work in the surrounding areas to keep the water body clean and ensure a healthy environment.
Workers of the lake-side food stalls appreciated the initiative of the young people while a local political leader inspired the volunteers to work more on it and make Dhaka a clean city.
The volunteers urged the government to take similar initiative on a large scale across the country.
