Voter list in enclaves uncertain

Work on voter list with photograph and ID card will start in Kurigram on November 4, but enlisting of voters in 18 enclaves, surrounded by India, still remains uncertain. District Election Officer Khatibar Rahman said, the CEC's office was informed of it on October 8. But no direction was received until Tuesday. Officials said, uncertainty looms large, as the Indian authority did not issue transit facility to the enclaves when fresh voter list was made in 1990. Some 4,000 residents of the enclaves however came to the mainland, and had enlisted themselves as voters at that time. — UNB
