Wednesday, 17 October 2007

The Election Commission is going to embark on the most arduous task of preparing voter-list with photograph at around 200 registration centres of the Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) on December 1, reports UNB.
Election Commissioner M Sohul Hussain told the press Tuesday that the voter listing would be done in phases in 90 wards of the DCC, part of the ongoing countrywide task of making voter list in preparation for upcoming elections.
"We will run the task of voter listing in DCC in the months of December and January. Publicity and campaign will be huge since the number of voters is large here," he said.
There would also be advertisement in newspapers, on television channels and radios and through miking in localities, Sohul said, adding that the cell-phone companies would also send SMS to their subscribers informing when and where the voter listing was going on.
