Wednesday, 20 August 2008
The voter registration process for the stranded Pakistanis will begin today (Wednesday) from different camps in the capital and gradually across the country, pulling up these people from wilderness into the citizenry after over three decades, reports UNB.
Information collection for registering the Urdu-speaking people will take place from August 20 to 22 in the city and their photographs will be taken on August 25, sources at the Election Commission Secretariat said.
There are a total of 116 camps across the country housing the stranded Pakistanis since they had opted for going to Pakistan after Bangladesh's independence from Pakistani rule in 1971.
