Voter Roll: Left out? Still there\\\'s a chance!

The eligible voters in Dhaka city who failed to fill voter registration forms in September last, there is still a chance for them to be voters. Those want to get enlisted as voters will have to turn up with necessary documents at voter registration centres in different parts of the city, an Election Commission release said on Sunday. The necessary documents are SSC certificate, birth certificate, citizenship certificate, photocopy of parents’ National ID Cards or the numbers of their Identity Cards, and the copies of utility service bills. On Sept 1, the EC started updating the voter list in the city, including the Cantonment Board. And the door-to-door data was collected by enumerators till Sept 10. Now the photographs and fingerprints of possible voters are being taken in each voter registration centre in the city. Currently, there are over 5.1 million voters in Dhaka metropolitan area, including the Cantonment Board and 17 union parishads, said EC. Of them, 22,88,387 voters are in Dhaka North City Corporation, 18,07,285 in Dhaka South City Corporation and 62,428 at Dhaka Cant Board, according to a news agency.
