Voters' list preparation begins in Rajshahi today

RAJSHAHI, Aug 10 (BSS): Preparation of the voters' list with photograph and National Identity card begins in all the 30 wards of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) area simultaneously tomorrow (Saturday).
District Election Office (DEO) with the cooperation of Bangladesh Army is carrying out the task to make this effort a success.
The Election Commission has already appointed 30 assistant registration officers, 182 supervisors and 908 enumerators for collecting voters' information from each household in the RCC area. Earlier, they were given a four-day need-based training in this connection, officials said.
DEO Syed Muhammad Musa told BSS here today that the officials and staffs started their work from the last week of July with distribution of voter registration forms, among other tasks.
He said 101 voters registration centres, three data entry and processing servers and a central data processing server were installed to complete the total field level data entry and processing.
A total of 500 data entry operators and 96 proofreaders were appointed for the data entry and processing works. They were given need-based technical training to do the job competently.
Army officer Kazi Abu Taher, coordinating the digitized voters' list and 'National Identity Card' preparing work in the RCC area, said, "we are extending technical support in this connection".
"The ongoing process of voters' list and National ID card preparation is computer generated having some layer of protection," he said adding that several steps like checks and counter checks and monitoring by both the Army and the election officers were undertaken.
