Tuesday, 18 October 2011

Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain on Monday said the voters in Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls would get voting information through mobile phone SMS two days before the elections, reports UNB. Talking to reporters at the EC secretariat, he said the voters would not require taking their national ID cards to polling centres to cast their votes. Sakhawat said the EC would inform the voters of their serial numbers, name of the polling centres etc through mobile SMS on October 28, two days ahead of the vote. About army deployment, Sakhawat said the Commission has decided to deploy army in the NCC elections as candidates and inhabitants of Narayanganj demanded their deployment. "The Commission keeps all options open for deployment of the army."
