Voting halted in 12 Barguna centres

Voting has been suspended in 12 polling centres in Amtali upazila in Barguna district barely half an hour after balloting began to the Upazila (UZ) Parishad, a polling official has said. Upazila Executive Officer Md Abdullah said the decision was taken following allegations of irregularities and takeover of polling centre on Monday morning. Abdullah, also the assistant returning officer, said a press conference would be held soon in this connection. Voting is being held in 73 UZs across the country in the fifth phase of the UZ elections since 8:00am on Monday and will continue until 4:00pm, according to bdnews24.com.
