VVIP\\\'s visit causing miseries to commuters

Monday, 15 June 2015

We are accustomed to seeing VVIP's visits to different parts of the city and the miseries that follow. The traffic authorities do nothing other than blocking the roads for an unusually long period of time in the area where a VIP visits on some official business. Particularly when the honourable Prime Minister is on a visit to some area on an important official business, the sufferings and inconveniences know no bounds.
It happened on last Thursday when the honourable Prime Minister visited Gulshan Shooting Club to inaugurate a shopping complex. Such visits by VIPs cannot be avoided. It is the responsibility of traffic authorities to find out ways and means to handle situations like this in a judicious manner so that movement by commuters can continue peacefully alongside visits by VIPs. Dhaka is already known for its traffic congestion and nobody wants further inconvenience to be added to the milieu. Any traffic congestion has a chain effect and it immediately affects traffic movement in other areas. We cannot afford to forget it.
