Wait times for US visa to increase: Embassy

Tuesday, 8 July 2014

The US Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday said the wait times for obtaining US visa are expected to increase substantially in the months of July and August. Although wait times are currently relatively short and nonimmigrant visa applicants can schedule and receive their appointments within 7-10 days, the wait times are expected to increase substantially as we progress into the months of July and August, said a press release. Historically, the months of June through August have been a very popular time for people to apply for a US visa, it said. “In an effort to improve customer service, and to help travelers avoid any unnecessary delays in their travel plans, we would like to encourage nonimmigrant visa applicants who plan to travel in or after September to wait to schedule a visa interview appointment until closer to the actual travel date,” said the media release, according to a news agency.
