Wal-Mart honours Iftu Ahmed

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, the largest retailer in the world with over two million associates honoured Iftu Ahmed, the Bangladesh-born US citizen and deaf individual  by allowing him to cut the ribbon on the occasion of grand opening of Naperville Super Wal-Mart in the state of Illinois on March 12, 2014, according to a statement.
Ahmed has been serving for Wal-Mart since 1990. It proves that Wal-Mart honours qualified associates with disabilities.  Ahmed said: "It is the greatness of Wal-Mart." To communicate with business and customers, Wal-Mart has given Ahmed a TDD that denotes Telephone Device of the Deaf.
In 1993, Wal-Mart critics began to underestimate Wal-Mart. Ahmed defended it by writing a published letter on satisfaction to customers Wal-Mart's philosophy in the daily Beacon-News of Aurora, IL.  After reading the article, David Glass, the then President and CEO of Wal-Mart wrote to Ahmed: "It was both comforting and reassuring to know how fortunate we are to have such outstanding friends. Words can not express my appreciation for your kind and generous expression of support." It  inspired Ahmed.
Besides, Ahmed published several articles regarding Wal-Mart both in English and Bengali. One of the finest example is Sam Walton, the missing laureate which was published in the Financial Express, the daily newspaper of Bangladesh. Scott Lee, the then President and CEO of Wal-Mart congratulated Ahmed about the article on Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart. Even Mike Duke, the then President and CEO of Wal-Mart wrote to Ahmed: "I enjoyed reading your letter and learning your history at our company. You have truly made a difference. Thank you for serving our customers so well."
Ahmed made many contributions to Wal-Mart. He earned Wal-Mart Great Job Awards twice and a Regional Award of Excellence.  His story was published in The Wal-Mart Today which was known then The Wal-Mart World. He delivered speech twice in the Wal-Mart District Annual Luncheons. He volunteered for Northern Illinois Food Bank twice on behalf of Wal-Mart.
Ahmed represented the national cricket, youth soccer and athletics track and field for Mymensingh District Team. He was the champion in tennis, table tennis, basketball and volleyball at hearing impaired sports tournament hosted by Northern Illinois University.
Academically, Ahmed obtained BA (Honours) and MA degrees in history from the University of Dhaka Bangladesh, AAS degree in data processing from Waubonsee Community College IL  and honourary PHD degree in Informal Higher Education from the Vishwa Unnyayan Samsad , New Delhi, India.
