War crime accused Shamsuddin sent to jail

KISHOREGANJ, Nov 28 (UNB): A court here sent Friday Advocate Shamsuddin Ahmed, arrested for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity, including killing, arson attack and looting, during the Liberation War in 1971, to jail.
Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Rajibul Hasan passed the order when police produced him before his court at noon.
The court also ordered that the relevant documents be sent to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
Earlier, Thursday a team of Kishoreganj police arrested Shamsuddin from Chourasta Bus Stand in Nandail Upazila of Mymensing district. He was waiting there for a bus to go to Chittagong.
Later, police took him to the Kishoreganj Model Police Station.
Shamsuddin had been accused of killing 10 people, carrying out arson attacks and looting in Karimganj Upazila during the Liberation War.
On May 2, 2010, a case was filed against Shamsuddin in connection with the killing of Miah Hossain, a resident of Ayla village in Karimganj upazila of the district.
