War criminals, killers of Bangabandhu must be tried soon: Sajeda Chy

FARIDPUR, April 19 (BSS): Deputy Leader of the Jatiya Sangsad Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury Saturday said trials of war criminals, and killers of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders must be held on the soil of Bangladesh very soon.
She called upon all to build a strong resistance against the anti-liberation forces. The defeated forces are hatching conspiracy to endanger the sovereignty of the country, the deputy leader said at a reception ceremony as the chief guest at Amibca Maidan in Faridpur Saturday.
Greater Faridpur Garment Owners' Association and Faridpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly organised the reception in honour of senior politicians, ministers and members of parliament of greater Faridpur district. Stipends were distributed among 50 meritorious students after the reception.
Labour, Employment, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the function while Tipu Munshi, MP, presided over it.
Commerce Minister Lt Col (retd) Faruq Khan, and members of parliament Abdur Rahman and Shajahan Khan, industrialist AK Azad also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
Engineer Mosharraf said steps have been taken to free Faridpur from terrorism, corruption and extortion to make it an ideal district.
A Tk 1.75 billion project has been taken to save the district from the erosion of the river Padma and a marine technology training centre will also be established for producing and sending skilled manpower aboard, he said.
The commerce minister said a power plant with the capacity of 50-100 megawatt will be set up in the district.
