Warm clothes sale gains momentum in Bogura

BOGURA, Jan 05: Warm clothes sale is gaining momentum across Bogura district as bone chilling cold is prevailing during the last couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, mercury has gone down across the region, causing serious problems for the low and middle income group.
People from all walks of life have started purchasing warm clothes from shops.
The traders of warm clothes are doing brisk business at makeshift footpath shops as well as at the town's big shopping malls in the district as winter has arrived early in the northern region this year.
Generally, winter arrives in the region in the last week of December but this year, the people of the district have begun to feel the intensity of cold since the first week of December.
Most of the people of low and middle income group are gathering at the roadside makeshift shops to purchase warm clothes of their choice at lower prices.
The makeshift shops have mushroomed on the footpath at Shapla Super market, Khondaker Super Market, Charmatha Market and Railway Super Market.
People from the low and fixed income groups like day-labourers, rickshaw-pullers are crowding footpath shop to buy second-hand warm clothes such as blanket, wrapper, coat, woolen sweater and cardigan.
The sale of warm clothes at sophisticated market like Runner plaza, Sharif Uddin super market, Jobeda Shopping mall, Khondaker super market, new market and Rojib Udiin super market is also gaining pace, said customer Tahmid Haque Iram.
Though the prices of new winter clothes are higher this year, according to the customers, the price of old clothes are comparatively low, said rickshaw puller Jasim Uddin.
Many men and women including children have already been affected by cold-related diseases like cold, fever, dysentery and asthma, said Dr. Azizul Haque. They are given suggestions on how to protect themselves from cold.
