Warrant for arrest of owner, master, manager

The Marine Court Wednesday issued warrants of arrest for owner, master and manager of the launch MV Shathil-1 that capsized in the river Rabnabad amid a stormy weather at Kalagachhia of Patuakhali district on May 3 last killing 15 people, reports UNB.
According to a press release of Shipping Ministry, the court also ordered seizure of the vessel.
The order came following a case filed with the court accusing the owner, master and manger.
Directorate of Sea Transport Authority had suspended survey and registration certificates of the launch and also driving license of its master.
Engineer and ship surveyor of Patuakhali region have already been withdrawn and attached to the headquarters.
After the launch mishap, Directorate of Sea Transport Authority had formed a three-member committee while BIWTA (Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority) a four-member committee and Patuakhali district administration a committee to probe the incident.
Administrative and legal actions would be taken immediately after getting final reports of the probe committees, the release said.
