Water supply project proposal of Dwasa approved

The Cabinet Purchase Committee on Tuesday approved a Tk 2.92 billion tender proposal of Dhaka Wasa (Dwasa) for increasing water supply in the city’s Mirpur area. South Korean Company Huyndai Corporation won the contract for drawing up the water by setting up well fields at Bhakurta in Savar and supplying it to Mirpur area. Officials said this project was undertaken by Dwasa to utilise alternative sources of water instead of groundwater as the city’s groundwater table is going down day by day, according to a news agency.
