Tuesday, 10 September 2019

Water.org, an international development agency, with operations in 13 countries, launched its WaterCredit Adoption Programme in Bangladesh, at La Vita Hall, Lakeshore Hotel Gulshan on Monday, said a statement.
The chief guest for the event was M. A. Mannan, MP, Planning Minister.
In Bangladesh, Water.org has reached over 1.2 million people with water and sanitation loans, in 60 districts of Bangladesh. Some of Water.org's partners include WaterAid, Institute of Inclusive Finance and Development (InM), BURO, POPI, VERC, Wave Foundation, Sajida Foundation, UDDIPAN, TMSS, FHI Partners.
These water and sanitation loans, although non-income generating loans, have a significant positive impact by reducing incidence of disease, healthcare expenses, and also by freeing up time taken by women and other family members to collect water, and not to mention, by affording the dignity of a toilet.
Globally, Water.org was mobilized almost $1.9 billion in loan capital reaching over 24 million people. WaterAid and InM were partners for Monday's event attended by leaders of MFIs, commercial banks, and in particular, their agent banking operations.
