Monday, 4 October 2010

World Bank (WB) Sunday said it would give technical and financial supports for updating the National Identity (ID) Card in Bangladesh, reports BSS.
The Bank's senior governance specialist for South Asia, Junghun Cho, said this when he met Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandaker at the latter's office in the city.
Cho stressed the need for coordination among the work of the national ID card and Population Census-2011.
AK Khandaker told the WB official that work on carrying out the population census would begin in March next year after getting approval from the cabinet.
He described the population census as different work and said necessary steps would be taken so that no duplication occurs among the work of preparation of voters ID card and population census.
