We condemn violence and blockade: FBCCI

Mahbubul Alam, President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the apex trade organisation of Bangladesh, says businesses are incurring huge losses following such programme as it halts movement of goods and raw materials from one place to another.
"We condemn such violence and blockade as it is impacting adversely the economy," he said while talking to The Financial Express Tuesday.
As prices are already too high for commoners to afford, Mr. Alam alerts that the stubbornly high inflation will worsen further if such agitation programmes continue.
He sees FDIs very crucial for Bangladesh--now aspiring to board a higher trajectory of development through LDC graduation-in spurring economic growth. "None will show interest in Bangladesh if the programme continues," he notes.
"We (business community) want to do our business smoothly. So, there is need for congenial business-friendly environment for that."
