We don't get Shakib when we need him badly: Papon
Covid-infected all-rounder out of Sri Lanka Test

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon felt that they are unlucky enough not to get Shakib Al Hasan when the all rounder's service is badly needed, report agencies.
As Bangladesh prepared for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which is crucial for Tigers after a disastrous South Africa series, Shakib Al Hasan tested positive for Covid-19.
Earlier, Shakib tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday and was ruled out of this week's first Test against Sri Lanka, the country's cricket authorities said.
Shakib returned from the United States on Tuesday and underwent a PCR and a rapid antigen test as a prerequisite for joining the team ahead of the series.
"Both tests have returned positive results. He will now recover in self isolation and will be re-tested in due course. He has been ruled out of the first Test," the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a statement.
Sri Lanka's cricket team is already in Bangladesh for the two-Test series, beginning at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong May 15.
The second Test will be held in Dhaka from May 23 to 27.
Shakib also missed Bangladesh's previous Test series against South Africa due to a family emergency.
Earlier, Shakib missed the South Africa Test series due to family emergency.
Papon said it is always tough to form a team combination without Shakib as the star all-rounder is a player in two-in-one.
"When he doesn't play, we need an extra batsman and an extra bowler for which our team combination gets disrupted," Papon said while addressing the media at National Sports Awards programme in the city on Wednesday.
"It's our bad luck that we don't get him when we need him badly. But sometimes we can't control all the things. Shakib's matter is such that, we have nothing to do. We have to maintain the protocol. Hopefully he will recover quickly."
Papon, however, said it's good thing that Shakib stays healthy and he has no significant symptoms.
"I talked to him yesterday, he said he is fine now. He has no problem at the moment. We will test again in a few days. It will be done according to our protocol. We want him to get better. His absence is definitely a big blow for the team," he added.
Shakib, however, played his last Test against Pakistan at home. Then he skipped the Test series against New Zealand for family reasons.
Earlier this year, Nazmul had said they have no idea when Shakib wants to play and when he wants to skip.
The upcoming series is a part of the ongoing cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. Bangladesh played six matches in this event so far and won one of them against New Zealand.
