Weekly sale sees strong competition for good liquoring teas*

The weekly tea sale Tuesday witnessed good liquoring teas attracted quite strong competition from all sections of the market, particularly smaller brokens, said a press release. According to a market statement, there was more interest from the loose tea buyers, while blenders continued to lend strong support. Better liquoring dusts were again a dearer market. CTC LEAF: 14,438 packages and 950 packages of old season on offer met with a fairly strong demand. BROKENS: Good liquoring Brokens were again a strong market and mostly dearer and these realised prices between Tk 175 and Tk 190 per kg. The remainders were also in good demand and were generally firm. FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings were in fairly strong demand and firm to dearer and these realised prices between Tk 168 and Tk 182. Other varieties were firm to slightly easier especially the plainer types. CTC DUST: 1,730 packages and 118 packages of old season on offer again met with a better demand at firm to dearer rates. Better liquoring varieties were mostly dearer following competition whilst all others sold at around last levels in line with quality. Both blenders and loose tea buyers lent good support.
