Welsh businesspeople are looking for business opportunities in a number of areas in Bangladesh, including transfer of skills and knowledge through business relationships.
"Challenges will always be forthcoming in business, but as entrepreneurs we see challenges as opportunities, not obstacles," leader of a trade delegation Dilabor A Hussain told a press conference in the city on Sunday, reports UNB.
Despite political instability, they are looking for working together with Bangladesh seeking out new potentials in the emerging market through a strong engagement.
He made the remark when asked how they see the business and investment environment in Bangladesh amid political instability.
Mr Hussain, also chairman of the Wales-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (WBCC), said they are more focused on business community and want to look forward for partnership with Bangladesh's business community.
Responding to another question, WBCC Secretary General Mahbub Noor said there are (political) challenges outside which are 'unfortunate'. "But life has to be carried on. We see it (political tension) as a domestic issue which will hopefully be resolved soon."
A 25-member business delegation from Wales arrived in Dhaka earlier in the day to drive forward business relations between Wales and Bangladesh in the fields of 'knowledge businesses and knowledge transfer'.
Organised by the Wales Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (WBCC), the trade mission arrived in Dhaka to showcase leading Welsh companies to the local business community and introduce them with the growing Bangladesh economy and market.
Representatives from eminent organisations such as the University of South Wales, the largest University in Wales, and TechniQuest, the leading Science Centre in Wales, are among just a few businesses that are accompanying this mission.
Deputy Director of Trade and Inward Investment for the Department of Economy, Welsh Government Mike Hyyda, Director, UK Trade and Investment at the British High Commission in Dhaka Ruzina Hasan, Head of Press and Communications Fouzia Younis-Suleman, among others, spoke at the press conference.
Before the press conference, British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert W Gibson had a meeting with the trade delegation.
Aiming to seek out the best business opportunities, the delegation will visit Sylhet and Chittagong during its eight-day visit to Bangladesh until January 31.
They will have meetings with ministers and senior government officials at the commerce and education ministries in the capital and national chambers and industry leaders in all three cities.
This is the second installment of their chamber's activity to build a new and better trading relationship between Wales and Bangladesh after 2011.
