West Bengal h’ball teams due in city May 26

The West Bengal Men's and Women's Handball teams of India will arrive in the city on May 26 to play eight-match friendly series with selected teams of Bangladesh, four each in capital Dhaka and port city Chittagong, reports UNB.
The touring West Bengal men's team will play two friendly matches in Dhaka against league champions Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on May 27 at 2:30 pm and will meet Bangladesh Police team on May 28 also at 2:30 pm, both at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.
The visiting West Bengal women's team will also play two friendly matches in Dhaka with Bangladesh Ansar on May 27 at 4:00 pm and against BJMC on May 28 at the same time and same venue.
The Indian handball team, ranked 6th in the National Championship, will also play four friendly matches, two for men and two for women in Chittagong.
Touring men's team will play Chittagong district men's team on May 31 at 4 pm and will face Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on June 1 at 4 pm, both at the MA Aziz Stadium.
The West Bengal Women's team will play Chittagong District Women's team on May 31 at 2:30 pm while the tourists will play their last match against the same team on June at 2:30 pm at the same venue.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor disclosed the details of the friendly series at a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Thursday.
Chairman of the meet Organising Committee M Shoheb Chowdhury, BOA treasurer and vice chairman of the organising committee Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal and member secretary of the organising committee M Nurul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
The 40-member West Bengal team comprising 14 men players, 12 women players and 14 team officials will reach the city by train.
This is the 3rd time that Bangladesh and West Bengal side will meet each other in such friendship handball matches after 1986 and 2011.
Both the Bangladesh men's and women's teams emerged champions in the three-team handball meet held in West Bengal in 2011, also involving Nepal.
