Western College rearing up students to meet challenges of twenty first century

WITH the approval of the secondary and higher secondary education board Dhaka in 2006, Western College started admitting students for science, humanities and commerce group in HSC level. It shifted its operation to 255/A Elephant Road in Dhaka in 2008. The institution under the leadership of principal Abul Hossain Mia has been improving by way of teaching in a modern method, ensuring learning of the students in a disciplined environment and practising strict punctuality in its every academic and non-academic activity.
Western College has been assisting its students who got GPA 5 in SSC with study materials and 100% tuition waver.
The college teaches through semester method and arranges tutorial tests regularly. It arranges meetings for exchanging views with the guardians on regular basis. There is arrangement of a guide teacher for every 10-15 students. Students here have access to the rich library of the college. They also take part in various book reading programmes of 'Bishwa Sahitaya Kendro', country's famous organizasation that encourages and facilitate students and others to read books. It is mandatory to study computer and English courses, so every student having passed from this institute will be good at these two subjects.
There are arrangements for sports and cultural activities for the students. Literary magazines are published on regular basis. Students are attending scout, science club, debate club, mathematics olympiad and science fairs. They are enjoying uninterrupted power supply and ultra modern computer lab with Internet connectivity.
The college has a canteen in the ground floor. There is separate auditorium for the male students.
Western Colleges helps its bright graduating students to study in Japan, Australia, Canada, Ireland etc.
The college has its own hostel attached to the campus. There is arrangement for free medical service under the supervision of the expert doctors. While it had only 12 students at the time of its inception in 2006, now it has more than seven hundred students.
The college is not only contributing to the spread of national curriculum education, it is also conducting such professional courses as CAT, ACCA, OTHM.
Engineer Md. Hamidul Huq, the chairman of the college, said that the college is trying its best to make the students prepared for the challenges of the twenty first century.
