Western Marine builds tugboat for Payra Port

FE REPORT | Monday, 19 October 2020

Western Marine Shipyard launched a tugboat named 'Tiakhali-1' for the Payra Port authority in the river Karnaphuli in Chattogram on Sunday.
The 60 ton bollard pull tugboat built by the Western Marine is so far the most powerful tug in Bangladesh, the company said in a press release.
It also said that in January this year at the beginning of Mujib Borsho, the Western Marine exported two 8000 DWT capacity cargo ships to India. And by building this tugboat the same year, Western Marine is going to make a remarkable contribution to the maritime sector and the implementation of government's Blue Economy Concept.
This tugboat will expedite the port activity through swift handling of inbound and outbound ships in Payra Port.
At present, Bangladesh imports about 1.5 million metric tonnes of coal every year.
