What about the traffic mess?
Thursday, 26 February 2009
The traffic situation was summed up by a recent newspaper picture of a girl in tears after she could arrive late at the examination centre! I hope the poor girl was able to use the remaining time properly.
Are the authorities indifferent about the state of things? What are they doing about the mess, the traffic system is in? Day in and day out commuters suffer, as never before, with no solution in the sight. And it is not that the traffic cops are doing nothing. I personally have a lot of sympathy for these people trying to control the indisciplined traffic on the streets. It is not their fault that we are allowing thousands of new vehicles on the road every year without adding to roads to accommodate them. They are doing their best. The problem is with the planning. The existing roads are proving inadequate. The authorities must do something to ease the situation.
