Wheat cultivation target expected to be exceeded in Tangail

TANGAIL, Dec 6: Wheat cultivation target has been set up by Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Tangail this year and DAE Tangail is hopeful of exceeding the target.    
DAE Tangail said this year wheat cultivation target of 12 upazilas of the district is in 5642 hectares of land with the production target of 17490 metric tonnes.
Farmer Shamsul Haque of village Atia under Atia union Delduar Upazila of the district told the FE that about Tk 5500 was spent on fertiliser, water supply and seed for cultivation of his 2.5 bighas of land and he is hopeful of getting a bumper production of the crop this year.
  MD Nazrul Islam, training officer of DAE Tangail, informed that wheat cultivation is increasing every year in the district because cultivation cost of wheat is less than on the other corps.
