White panel condemn speech of blue panel

DU Correspondent | Wednesday, 27 August 2008

The 'white panel' teachers of Dhaka University (DU) Tuesday strongly condemned the speech of the 'blue panel' teachers about manipulating the recent dean election by the university administration.

The 'white panel', backed by the BNP-Jamaat, in a written statement claimed the allegation, raised by the blue panel, of intervening in the dean election by the DU administration was entirely baseless and unrealistic.

"We treat the allegation of the 'blue panel' about the dean election as same to showing extreme dishonour to the well-thought verdict of teachers. Bringing such allegations after the defeat in election is unprecedented in the history of DU and contradictory to the democratic values", the statement said.

"We firmly believe the university teachers always deliver their proper judgment, as they are the most conscious stratum of the society. The result of the recent dean election is verily the reflection of their conscious and well-thought verdict", the statement added.

DU Teachers' Association (DUTA) President and Arts Faculty Dean Sadrul Amin, DUTA Vice-President and Science Faculty Dean Tajmeri SA Islam, Business Studies Faculty Dean Abbas Ali Khan and Pharmacy Faculty Dean Md Abdur Rashid, among others, signed the statement.
