The White Panel or pro-BNP-Jamaat teachers of Dhaka University (DU) met VC SMA Faiz Thursday noon to reiterate their demand for withdrawing the conditions barring madrasah students from getting admitted into seven departments of DU.
"We have informed the VC that we will abstain from discharging our duties during the upcoming first-year honours admission tests, if the discriminatory decision about madrasah students' admission is not quashed immediately", DU White Panel Convener and Arts Faculty Dean Prof Sadrul Amin told reporters.
On the other hand, the madrasah-background students of DU submitted memorandums to the President and the Chief Adviser (CA) Thursday noon seeking withdrawal of admission bar on madrasah students.
A five-member team of the agitating students, led by Madrasah Students' Rights Preservation Committee (MSRPC) convener Md Moniruzzaman, submitted memorandums to the President and the CA through DU VC.
"We firmly believe the President, also the Chancellor of DU, and the CA will pay heed to our demand. We will be compelled to go for tougher programmes, if our just demand is not met within tomorrow (Saturday)," the MSRPC convener told reporters after staging demonstration in the campus and submitting the memorandum.
When asked about the matter, the DU VC said, "I want to reach a consensus regarding the issue with cooperation of all concerned of the university."
