Why the conspiracy to disband RAB?

Friday, 20 May 2011

Since the inception of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in 2004, several governments have taken the advantages of this force to control law and order situation throughout the country. Needless to mention that the Police had lost their acceptability to the common people. The elite force was formed to maintain law and order in the country and there was no way to deny that the RAB attained the highest level of acceptability to all sections of the society. Apparently, it seems that they are involved in extra-judicial killings frequently. Is it a fact? Don't they have the right to defend themselves? They cannot sit idle if attacked by the criminals or terrorists. Obviously, they go for operation to search notorious criminalsterrorists on the basis of definite information which is undoubtedly a boon to the society. Very recently, some organisations demanded disbanding of the RAB, but why? What agenda they want to fulfill by abolishing this elite force? A few pressure groups are active to weaken the government keeping them busy with different chaos and movements by the fundamentalists. If RAB is disbanded, instantly the law and order situation will deteriorate and the opportunists will take the advantage. I would rather request the government to handle the RAB in a more efficient manner and earn confidence of the people instead of getting them panicked. Likewise, the recruitment process of the RAB should be fair and only dedicated and brilliant personnel should be picked up to form this elite force. They should bear high moral character and at the same time they have to be given capital punishment if found involved in corruption or irregularity. Finally, I would earnestly request the government to modernise RAB with the highest level of technological support as well as the ultra modern weapons to confront the terrorists. This could make it equivalent to the Naval Seal operational force of the USA. No doubt we have many talented 3D defence officers who can match the performance world class army officers.
