Why two days of weekly holiday?
Saturday, 30 January 2010
Observance of two days weekly holiday on Friday and Saturday by govt. semi govt. public sector corporations, banks etc. is causing more harm than good to our country and people.
It has become a common habit for many govt. officers and staff members to leave their station unauthorised.
They leave their station on Thursday afternoon during office hours and return back to duty after three days of absence from their place of posting on Sunday afternoon during office hours.
This practice is tantamount to negligence of duty, inefficiency and indiscipline.
Due to closure of govt. offices, semi-government offices, hospitals, post offices, sector corporations for continuous two days the current, routine, urgent and emergency services and works of the members of the public are delayed and kept in abeyance. Govt. officers and their wives misuse the govt. transports for pleasure, shopping, picnic and tourism during on two days of weekly holiday.
On the closing working day of Thursday and opening working day of week on Sunday there is heavy rush of people in Govt. offices, banks hospitals, post offices and huge traffic Jam on the road.
No financial transaction and communication can be made with foreign countries as most of the govt. and private offices abroad are closed on Saturday and Sunday and our trade and commerce get affected.
Under the above circumstances and many other cogent reasons it is imperative that all Govt., semi Govt. offices banks as well as school, colleges and universities may be closed one day in a week on Sunday and half a day on Saturday in the greater interest of our nation.
