Widows of three Ctg stampede victims get jobs at CVASU

Chattogram, Apr 7: The widows of three men who died in a stampede at the Qulkhwani of late Awami League leader and former mayor of Chittagong City Corporation ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury have got jobs at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU).
The university authorities handed over letters of permanent appointment to two of the appointees and temporary appointment to the other on Saturday.
Earlier, their appointments were approved at the 39th Syndicate meeting at 11 AM at the office of the vice chancellor.
Chandana Das, wife of late Krishnapada Das, has been appointed as office assistant, Lucky Das, wife of late Jhantu Das, as lab assistant while Priyanka Sharma, wife of late Satyabrata Bhattacharjee, has been appointed as lab technician.
Priyanka's post is temporary while those of Chandana and Lucky are permanent, a statement of the CVASU said.
Ten persons, all from the Hindu community, were killed in an incident of stampede at the gate of Rima Convention Centre where separate arrangement of feast was made for non-beef guests on the occasion of Qulkhani for late Mohiuddin on December 18 last year.
The Syndicate meeting chaired by the VC was also attended by UGC Member Prof Md Akhtar Hossain, Premier University Vice Chancellor Prof Anupam Sen, Port City International University Vice Chancellor Prof Nurul Anwar and Chittagong District Council Chairman MA Salam.
