Will Khaleda Zia suggest dissolution of Army? Asks Inu

Thursday, 15 May 2014

KUSHTIA, May 14 (BSS): Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Ziaur Rahman were killed by some unruly elements in the Army. So, he asked: Will Khaleda Zia propose dissolution of the Army?
The minister said when a member of a regular force commits a crime, he/she is punished; but the entire force is never dissolved.
The minister reminded Khaleda Zia of the fact that during her tenure some 373 people were killed by RAB (Rapid Action Battalion). "Why didn't she dissolve RAB then?" he asked again.
He concluded, "RAB is a regular force and the proposal to dissolve it cannot be accepted."
Inu was talking to journalists here today before joining a function to provide electricity to 700 households in five villages of Mirpur upazila of the district.
He said everyday there are charges of irregularities against the police force but nobody is thinking of dissolving it.
As a former prime minister, Khaleda Zia's statement is conspiratorial, he said adding that instead of assisting the government to resolve the incidents of abduction, murder and other serious crimes, she is trying to use the issue to enhance her web of political conspiracy.
Later, he received the US ambassador in Bangladesh, Dan Mozena, at Katlamari in Mirpur upazila.
The ambassador later had tea at the house of the minister in Golapnagar in Bheramara upazila.
In the afternoon the minister took Mozena to the Indo-Bangladesh power sub-station at Bheramara.
