Willem Buiter joins Citi as Chief Economist

Willem Buiter, one of the world's most distinguished macro economists, will be joining Citi in January 2010 as Chief Economist, said a press release.
Willem is currently Professor of Political Economy at the London School of Economics and a widely published author on economic affairs in books, professional journals and the press.
Since 2005, he has also been a consultant with Goldman Sachs advising clients on a global basis. He has been an adviser to the IMF, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank, the European Commission and many central banks and finance ministries.
Willem will join the management team of Citi Investment Research & Analysis (CIRA), where he will lead the economics research unit. He will also join the Global Investment Committee of the Citi Private Bank. As Chief Economist, Willem will work across the whole Citi platform as a senior adviser on global economic issues.
