Wimax subscribers reach 0.1m*****

Subscribers of internet service provider Wimax Company Banglalion has reached 0.1m since one year of its inception. The company started its commercial operation in May 2010 after getting licence in 2008. Chairman of Banglalion Major (Retd) Abdul Mannan disclosed this at a press conference at a city hotel Monday. Marking it as a significant growth, the former lawmaker said it is not success of Banglalion alone, rather it is a step forward towards digital education and improving standard of living of the people of the country. He said within a short time they will establish network in seven divisional cities. Their network coverage will reach 30 districts by this month and rest of the districts by the end of the year, he added. Mannan mentioned that Bangladesh has strong position just after Pakistan in South Asian countries in internet service providing through wimax technology. Currently, Banglalion offers two types of packages -- prepaid and post-paid. Under prepaid package, the user has to pay Tk 300 for 1 GB (gigabyte) bandwidth for the period of 30 days with a speed of 512 kbps (kilobyte per second) and 2 GB bandwidth at Tk 600 for the same days with 1 mbps (megabit per second) speed. Tk 500, Tk 800, Tk 900 and Tk 1200 for 3, 6, 12 GB and unlimited bandwidth have been planned for post paid customers with a speed of 512 kbps. Newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company Neil Graham, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Abraham Kaikobad and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Mohammad Abdul Mannan, among others, were present at the press conference.
