Windies to stage World T20 in '10

MOHALI, Oct 18 (Reuters): West Indies will stage a world Twenty20 championship in April-May 2010 instead of the one-day Champions Trophy, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said Saturday.
Switching to the shorter format tournament would help avoid repeating a major one-day event in successive years because the World Cup is scheduled to take place in the sub-continent in 2011, ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat told a news conference.
The ICC executive board will choose three venues from among those to be nominated by the West Indies board in January.
