Winter clothes sale picks up in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Nov 29 (BSS): Low and middle income group peoples are flocking to roadside shops and hawkers markets of the town to buy warms clothes with advent of winter in the district.
As cold weather coupled with heavy fog is sweeping the northern region, a hectic sale of winter clothes has been started at markets, shopping malls and roadside shops.
The people of low income group are crowding the roadside shops and hawkers markets to buy second-hand warm clothes to protect themselves from the winter cold.
Residents of the district have already started using blankets and quilts at night and wearing warm clothes after evening.
Labin, a day labourer, told this reporter that the price of warm clothes is higher than the previous year.
"Despite higher prices, I have bought several pieces of second-hand warm clothes for my family members," Labin said.
Because of the sudden cold weather, cold related diseases like fever, asthma and pneumonia have broken out in the district on a large scale.
Resident medical officer of Nilfamari Sadar Hospital Fazlul Haque said "We are treating about 500 cold-affected patients daily at the outdoor of the hospital."
