Winter vegetable cultivation begins in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Sept 4 (BSS): The farmers in three upazilas of the district have started cultivation of advanced winter vegetables on 2,010 hectares of land this year.
According to Chuadanga district agriculture extension department, winter vegetable is being cultivated on 1,180 hectares of land in Chuadanga Sadar upazila. In Damurhuda some 500 hectares and in Jibannagar 330 hectares are also being cultivated.
The vegetables being cultivated include cauliflower, cabbage, radish, brinjal, spinach, ridge gourd, lady's finger, bean, tomato and red leafees (lalshak) and others.
Due to heavy rainfall in the district during this season the cultivation of advanced winter vegetables have suffered much, yet huge quantity of vegetables are already available in the markets of the district.
