To everyone's surprise, chairman of Sunamganj’s Tahirpur Upazila Kamruzzaman Kamrul on Sunday morning went to the Upazila (UZ) Health Complex with broomstick in his hands and started cleaning up the compound. As the news spread around, the health complex authorities came to their senses about the unclean conditions prevailing around and joined their hands in the clean up act. It surprised not only the hospital staff but also the local people as the UZ chairman went to the health complex for doing the cleaning without any prior notice. Talking to reporters, Kamruzzaman said his effort was not a showoff in any way, but aimed at sensitise people about cleanliness. Dr Mohiuddin Biplob, sub-assistant medical officer of the health complex, said it is inspiring to see a public representative going ahead with such a cleanliness campaign. Kamruzzaman defeated his contestants by a huge margin in the UZ election held on March 31 this year in Tahirpur, according to UNB.
