Withdraw Bulbul\\\'s suspension order

RAJSHAHI, May 8 (UNB): Rajshahi BNP demanded on Friday of the government to  cancel the order suspending the party- supported Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul.
Rajshahi city and district BNP made the demand at a press conference at the city BNP office.
Rajshahi district BNP joint general secretary Alauddin Ahmed read out a written statement at the programme.
Central BNP leader adv Motiur Rahman Montu, district BNP general secretary adv Kamrul Monir and former BNP MP  Jahan Panna, among others, spoke at the press conference.
Mentioning Bulbul a popular mayor, the BNP leaders said by issuing the order of his suspension the government has undermined people's democratic values and their verdict as he had been elected mayor with a big margin in the RCC polls in 2013.
They also claimed that the move was taken as part of the government's plot to snatch people's democratic right and power. "It's  a slap on the face of people of Rajshahi."
Stating that the government has snatched the voting rights of people of Dhaka and Chittagong in April 28 city polls, the BNP leaders said Awami League usurping power through a voterless national election is now trying to cement one-party autocratic rule. "As part of this plan, RCC mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul has been suspended."
They urged the country's people to wage a movement against the current administration's undemocratic activities.
"People will lose their right of expression and democratic right if they now don't raise their voice against the government's willful activities and resist those," they told the press conference.
The government on Thursday suspended RCC Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, now on the run, as he has been charged with criminal offences.
Local Government Division issued a circular on Bulbul's suspension on Thursday afternoon.
Bulbul has been on the run for nearly three months as he is facing many criminal cases relating to street violence during the BNP-led 20-party's anti-government movement before and after Januray-5, 2014 election
