Withdraw human-haulers from highways: HC

The High Court (HC) on Monday directed the government to withdraw locally made human-haulers, Nasiman, Kariman and Bhatbhati, from highways in 10 districts within seven days. An HC bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Habibul Gani asked the police supers of the districts concerned and the highway police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to come up with a report within two weeks after complying with the order.  The court also issued a rule upon the government to explain in two weeks as to why it should not directed to abide by the Motor Vehicles Ordinance and to stop the plying of the illegal three-wheelers on the highways in the 10 districts. The districts include Jessore, Khulna, Kushtia, Narail, Jhenidah, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Satkhira, Magura and Bagerhat, according to a news agency.
