Withdrawal of ban on Nasimon demanded

JESSORE, Feb 26: Demanding legalisation, several thousand employees of indigenous transports Nasimon, Karimon and Alam Sadhu on Wednesday blocked different roads in Jessore and staged demonstrations demanding withdrawal of ban on plying the vehicles on roads.
The employees started to come to the town in the morning and continued demonstrations on roads at Daratana and adjacent areas in Jessore town till 1:30pm. They also handed a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
The employees of the indigenous vehicles at the rally said that they were demonstrating for their livelihood.
"We are not demonstrating against the administration nor the court but for our living", they said, adding, "We have the right to live and run our lives as free citizens of the country."


Man takes own life
A UNB report says: A man allegedly committed suicide by taking poison over a family feud at Bhekutia village in Sadar upazila in Benapole on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Siddiqur Rahman, a resident of the village. Locals said Siddiqur had a quarrel with his wife over family affairs in the afternoon. Getting incensed, at one stage, Siddiqur took insecticide and fell sick. He was later rushed to Jessore 250-Bed Hospital where he died at night.
