Witness hacked dead \\\'by murder accused\\\'

A man, who was witness in a murder case, was hacked to death allegedly by an accused in the case and his men in Manikchhari Upazila in Khagrachhari district on Friday. The dead is Maminul Haque, 55, a resident of the Upazila. Quoting locals, police said Maminul was the key witness in the local doctor Gofran murder case, in which Ali Hossain was prime accused. Family members of the deceased said Ali Hossain often used to give death threat to Maminul after securing bail from the High Court in Gofran murder case. Ali Hossain and his men, including his two sons, waylaid Maminul near a mosque at Kalapani Achalongpara village and hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons while he was going to the mosque to attend Juma prayers, leaving him critically injured. Maminul was rushed to Manikchhari Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead, according to bdnews24.com.
