Woman beaten by husband in Comilla dies at DMCH

A woman, beaten and injured by husband in Chouddagram upazila in Comilla, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Samina Akhtar, 32, wife of Alim Uddin and daughter of Korban Ali of Chhoto Satbaria village of Chouddagram upazila. Victim’s family members said Samina asked for money from Alim on Monday for the treatment of their only son Shakil who was injured in a road accident. Incensed, Alim started beating Samina and at one stage hit her in the head with a brick, leaving her injured. She was rushed to Chouddagram Health Complex from where she was shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated. Later, Samina was taken to the DMCH following further deterioration. She succumbed to her injuries there on Tuesday afternoon. Following the death, people of Chhoto Satbaria caught Alim and handed him over to police. Uttam Chakrabarty, officer-in-charge of Chouddagram Police Station, confirmed the incident, according to UNB.
