Woman beaten to death over land dispute

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 19 (UNB): A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her neighbours over a land-related dispute at Chowdala village in Gomostapur upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Firoza Begum,65, wife of Ishaq Miah, a resident of the village.
Firoz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station, said there had been a long running dispute between Ishaq Miah and his neighbour Majibur Rahman over ownership of a piece of land in the area.
As a sequel to the previous enmity, men of Majibar along with his wife beat Ishaq's wife Firoza indiscriminately at about 8:00 pm, leaving her dead on the spot.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Tuesday morning.
Police also arrested Khalilur Rahman and Fulu Begum in connection with the killing.
A case was filed in this connection.
