Meanwhile, the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has recorded a total of 185 deaths related to dengue-suspected cases until Sunday.
After examining 96 death cases, out of 185, the IEDCR confirmed that 57 people died of dengue, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
But the local media reported that the death toll has already crossed 150-mark.
Presently, some 4,254 people are being treated for dengue -- 2,340 of them in Dhaka and 1914 outside Dhaka.
A total of 71,097 patients had been hospitalised since January 1. Of them, 66,658 patients returned home after recovery.
The DGHS data show that 52,636 people were infected with dengue in August alone, a record number for a single month.
The government agencies concerned have taken special measures, including raising awareness among people, to fight dengue.
According to WHO, there is no specific treatment for the viral fever, but early detection and proper medication can lower the fatality rate below one per cent. Besides, cleanliness and awareness are necessary to fight the disease.
