Tuesday, 17 June 2025

The body of a 27-year-old housewife has been recovered from a rented apartment in the capital's Uttar Badda area, reports UNB.
The deceased is Sumi Akter, daughter of Md Hanif Hawlader and Mahinur Begum of Dumki upazila in Patuakhali.
Fatema Siddika Soma, sub-inspector of Badda Police Station, said they recovered the body from a second-floor flat around 10:45 pm on Sunday after being informed by locals.
She had been living in the flat for the last three to four months, she added.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Sumi might have been strangled to death, the officer said.
The actual cause of death will be known once the autopsy report is available, said SI Soma.
According to the house owner, Sumi's husband used to visit the flat occasionally and he often heard the couple quarrelling.
Family members alleged that Sumi was murdered by her husband, who has remained missing since the incident.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem .
